Greek Summer Honey
There is a reason Greek honey is considered to be the best tasting honey in the world. The biodiversity of the islands, the abundance of sunshine and the dry climate produce a very unique high quality honey, thicker than most, with complex flavors and less water content, ensuring a superior taste that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. And this tradition goes way back in history. In fact, Greece is where the art of beekeeping (apiculture) started in early prehistoric times and the collection of honey was so prolific in Greece that more than 40 ancient names for honey containers and innumerable references to honey can be found throughout ancient Greek history.
This long and revered apicultural tradition of our country never wavered to this day, and it is what inspired us when we searched for a unique, traditional Greek honey for Philosophies. We found it under the bright summer sun of the island of Rhodes, where honey bees collect their ingredients in pine forests and fields of wildflowers rich in wild thyme blossoms, creating a pure, raw honey unlike any other. Reminiscent of the bold Greek summers, it is a thick honey with a complex sweet flavour, an intense aroma and a persistent and lingering taste. What’s more, it is 100% natural, pure and raw, with no additives, no preservatives and no artificial flavours, and it is produced by traditional beekeepers from Rhodes who utilize sustainable agriculture methodologies.
